Running Analysis & Injury Rehabilitation
Running analysis and injury rehabilitation takes a comprehensive approach at our practice that helps runners prevent injuries, improve performance, and recover from existing injuries. It involves a detailed assessment of your running form, identifying any biomechanical weaknesses or imbalances that could contribute to pain or injury.
Symptoms & Conditions:
- Improper running form: Changes in your running form, such as overstriding, heel striking, or excessive knee valgus (knock knees).
- Muscle imbalances: Pain in the feet, ankles, knees, hips, or back while running or after a run.
- Inadequate footwear: Running in shoes that don’t provide proper support or cushioning for your foot type can contribute to injuries.
- Sudden changes in training: Increasing your mileage or intensity too quickly can put stress on your body and lead to overuse injuries.
- Biomechanical abnormalities: Certain anatomical factors can predispose you to certain types of running injuries.
Benefits:
The biomechanical abnormalities in how the patient runs are identified. Speed and steps per minute (cadence) are measured and run technique is closely reviewed in slow motion. This analysis helps pinpoint strengths and weaknesses and serves as the basis for a plan for a more efficient running style that can prevent injuries and result in pain free running.
